1. CPSIA

The consumer product safety promotion act of the United States (CPSIA) strictly requires the content of lead in children's products, and its limit value depends on the substrate and surface coating. In addition, the act also limits the content of harmful phthalate 6p in children's toys and child care products.

2. ASTM F2923-11

On November 7, 2011, the American Society for testing and materials (ASTM) released the standard ASTM F 2923-2011 on children's jewelry, based on the voluntary recall of children's jewelry made in China jointly announced by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and D & D distributing wholesale company. The standard is only applicable to accessories for children under 12 years old, not toys. The standard not only limits the content of various heavy metals in products, including lead, cadmium, nickel release, soluble heavy metals, but also requires their physical and mechanical properties. In addition, the standard was enforced in Rhode Island in December 2012.

3. ASTM F2999-13

In June 2013, the American Society for testing and materials (ASTM) issued the first voluntary standard for adult Jewelry - ASTM f2999-13, which is applicable to adults over 12 years old. Some items and limits of the standard refer to the relevant requirements of California lead jewelry Act (ab1681 and its amendment ab2901 act) and jewelry standard ASTM f2923-11. Its control items include chemical items such as lead, cadmium, soluble heavy metals, nickel release, and physical requirements of special parts such as magnets, batteries, suction tongues, etc.

4. CA Prop65

California 65 act is a proposal on toxic chemicals passed by California in 1986, which is full name of safe drinking water and toxic substances Enforcement Act 1986. This bill covers a wide range of products, including jewelry, textiles and clothing, toys, electronic appliances, etc., and there are many kinds of controlled substances. The act has requirements for both adult and children's jewelry, mainly for lead, cadmium, phthalate and other harmful substances, and the lead limit requirements for different materials are different.

5. Others

Other states of the United States have passed legislation on harmful substances in jewelry, such as the Illinois lead poisoning prevention act. The total cadmium content in jewelry in Maryland and Connecticut shall not exceed 75ppm, and the soluble cadmium content in jewelry in Illinois and Minnesota shall not exceed 75ppm.
